Object Identifier Service

The Object Identifier Service (OIDS) provides for the management of object identifiers (OIDs). OIDs are hierarchical numeric identifiers where each level in the hierarchy represents a registration authority who takes responsibility for all OIDs assigned under it. The Object Identifier service provides capabilites to create, update and track OID registrations, as well as query for and maintain metadata regarding the object mapped to a given OID.

Components

The following components currently comprise the Object Identifier Service:

• OID Service

  The Object Identifier Service provides for the management of object identifiers (OIDs). OIDs are hierarchical numeric identifiers where each level in the hierarchy represents a registration authority who takes responsibility for all OIDs assigned under it. The OID service provides capabilites to track OID registrations, create and update registrations, and query for and maintain metadata with OIDs.

• Object Identifier Service Web Application

  This is a user interface for the Object Identifier Service. It provides a web application that enables you to interact with the service.
