PDS-D Product Server for Linux RPM

The Planetary Data System (PDS) Data Distribution System (PDS-D) uses the OODT Data Grid Framework 's product servers to support search and retrieval of planetary data. The Linux Product Server is for discipline nodes running Linux using RPM package managers. It supports real-time conversions of PDS data to industry-standard formats, retrieval of raw PDS data, PDS labels, and other information.

Installation

To install the Product Server for Linux, download the compressed tar archive , uncompress and extract it to retrieve the RPM and the README.txt file. Follow the instructions in README.txt . You will need to have Java 2 Software Development Kit 1.4.2 or later on your system as well.

Your system will also need to be accessible on the public Internet, and any firewall protecing your system must allow incoming TCP/IP traffic to port 7576 from *.jpl.nasa.gov . (The product server's traffic is HTTP, and, if necessary, you can run the server on a different port.)
