The Planetary Data System (PDS) Data Distribution System
(PDS-D) uses the
OODT Data Grid
Framework
's product servers to support search and
retrieval of planetary data. The Mac OS X Product Server is
for discipline nodes running Mac OS X and takes advantage of
the Mac OS X platform to run with Apple's advanced Java
environment and
launchd
services. This is a Universal release
for both PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs. It supports real-time
conversions of PDS data to industry-standard formats,
retrieval of raw PDS data, PDS labels, and other information.
To install the Product Server for Mac OS X,
download
the disk image
and then
read the installation instructions
.
NOTE:
This installer is a
Universal Binary
and
works on both Intel and PowerPC based Macs. However, it does
require
Mac OS 10.5 "Leopard". If you are using Mac OS 10.3 or 10.4, please use
version 2.0.1
of the server.
Your system will need to be accessible on the public
Internet, and any firewall protecing your system must allow
incoming TCP/IP traffic to port 7576 from
*.jpl.nasa.gov
. (The product server's traffic is
HTTP, and, if necessary, you can run the server on a
different port.)
